Flying Bookworm Theatre Company – Romeo and Juliet 

The Flying Bookworm Theatre Company delivered a high-energy, colourful and engaging performance of Romeo and Juliet for our Preparatory English students. The production made Shakespeare accessible and entertaining while bringing the characters, conflicts and themes of the play to life.

Student feedback was extremely positive. Students described the performance as “lots of fun” and said it “brought the play to life.” They particularly enjoyed the interactive elements: “the actors interacted with us” and it was “great to volunteer and be on stage.”

The performance was particularly valuable in supporting Learning Task 4: “Who is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet?” Seeing the characters and their decisions performed helped students consider who bears responsibility for the tragedy.

The actors fittingly concluded with Shakespeare’s famous words:

“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players.”

Overall, an energetic, entertaining and educational performance that greatly assisted our students’ understanding of Romeo and Juliet.
