TC Market – Stallholders and Volunteers Wanted!
The TC Market is back on 17 November, from 4–6pm, and it's time to get involved!
The market is a fantastic opportunity to bring our school community together for an afternoon of live music, food and drinks, shopping and entertainment. With stalls offering everything from arts and crafts to vintage, plants and more, there's always plenty to see and enjoy.
Any TC student or parent/carer is welcome to run a stall, whether you're selling handmade creations, pre-loved items or something else entirely. We do have a sustainability focus and ask stallholders to consider the amount of plastic they use both in their product and as packaging.
We're also looking for volunteers to help make the event a success.
The TC Market is always a great atmosphere and a wonderful way to connect with others, get involved in school life and support the TC community.
Interested in holding a stall or volunteering? Please complete the form below to register your interest.
VCE Exam Preparation - Holiday Exam Timetable
VCE Exam Preparation - Holiday Exam Timetable
As we come to the end of Unit 4, our focus begins to shift towards preparing students for their VCE examinations.
Thorough and consistent exam preparation is an important part of achieving success, and we want to ensure that every student sitting a VCE examination has the best possible opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
As part of this preparation, we will be running practice examinations and some revision sessions during the Term 3/Term 4 holiday period.
We strongly encourage all students to attend these sessions. One of the most effective ways students can prepare for their examinations is by completing practice exams and receiving feedback on their responses. This provides students with an opportunity to become familiar with the exam format, practise working under timed conditions, identify areas for improvement and refine their examination strategies.
Every student intending to sit a VCE examination should aim to complete at least one full practice examination and receive feedback on their work.
Please see the holiday trial examination timetable below for details of the sessions available.

Assessment and Reporting – Terms 4 2026
This message is for our students and their families as we begin Term 4. As a result of earlier industrial action, we have refined our reporting practices for the duration of the year.
To ensure we continue to provide consistent feedback to students on their progress and next steps for growth, all classes from Entry to VCE will continue to report on learning tasks and SACs against a rubric, until the end of the school year. VCE SACs will also have an accompanying performance band or mark. These rubrics can be accessed at any time via Compass and will also appear on the end of semester report.
We have been using rubrics as a means of assessing student achievement since 2025. Best practice is to share and explain the rubric at the beginning of a unit of work or task, so that students know exactly what skills they are developing and what it is they need to be able to demonstrate.
Staff still provide formative feedback during class, on practice tasks, and on OneNote (depending on what suits the needs of the specific class), and often this will come in the form of written and/or verbal feedback.
All students should now have feedback on at least one learning task or SAC completed per subject that they take. Because it will not appear as a comment, as in previous years, it is important to explain this change.
If you have any questions about the rubric, please reach out to the relevant classroom teacher.
Thank you for your support as we continue to evolve and develop practices that best serve our students and the broader TC community.

WASHI Round 3
After a hiatus due to the industrial action, the Work and Study Habits Index is returning!
As we are always aiming to be responsive to feedback in a considered and collaborative way, we have decided to re-label the criterion currently labelled ‘Respect’ in the WASHI. As the descriptors for this criterion remain focused on students’ continued respect for the learning environment and the learning of others, we have chosen to label the criterion ‘Contribution to the Learning Environment’.
The descriptor for ‘Contribution to the Learning Environment’ refers to the habit of contributing positively and not engaging in behaviours that will limit the learning of others. Contributions might include:
Treating others as you wish to be treated
Following staff instructions
Getting involved in collaborative activities
Helping others
Being inclusive and supportive
And not disrupting the learning of others
The expectations and descriptions of this criterion will remain the same, the only thing that is changing is the label ‘Respect’ to reduce confusion.
One other thing to note is the attendance percentage data that comes with the WASHI. This reflects in class attendance, meaning it shows the number of times a student has been in class over the period being assessed, regardless of school approved absences. Because students at TC have so many extra-curricular, cross-curricular and school-run opportunities – such as school sports, concert rehearsals, or excursions – this means that the % may appear low. However, if you are concerned about this, you can go to Compass and check the attendance data there.
We have chosen to show the in-class percentage alongside the WASHI as this provides context for how many times a staff member will have seen their students in the WASHI cycle and therefore inform their assessment of frequency regarding the work and study habits.
This WASHI will reflect students’ habits over the past term, and will be released at the end of week 10. If you have any questions about this, please contact Cassidy Trousdale at CTR@tc.vic.edu.au
Thank you for your ongoing support with our WASHIs and student development.

In Term 4 we will be continuing our Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) and Respectful Relationships program across our Flexible Learning Environment FLE (FLE) classes, EAL, MAP and Entry students (week 5-8), one session each term across the year. Classes have been designed to be developmentally and age appropriate and include consent education for all students. FLE3 classes have begun in Week 1-2.
RSE this term will continue to build on prior learning of respectful and healthy relationships with the focus on the merging of in-real-life and online/technology-based relationships including AI generated content. At TC we take a whole school approach and believe that relationships and sexuality education is a shared responsibility. We encourage parents/carers to be actively involved, having conversations with your child according to your own values and beliefs. The Victorian Department of Education has great resources to assist parents with these discussions - https://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/teachers/teachingresources/discipline/physed/Pages/forparents.aspx
eSafety Commissioner have many upcoming webinars and useful resources for parents/carers, please find details here: https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents/webinars
The RSE classes will be delivered by TC staff experienced in this teaching area, and we look forward to working with our young people to strengthen their skills and understanding of RSE across their developmental stages.
We encourage and strongly recommend that all students attend these important life-skills classes. However, if you would prefer your child not to attend, please email your child’s Community Executive Team (CET) to opt out by Tuesday 13 October. Students who are not participating will go to another supervised space during these sessions.

2026 Science Week ‘Seeds of Science’ Photography Competition Winners
As part of Science Week, students were invited to submit a photograph inspired by this year’s theme, “Seeds of Science.” Thank you to everyone who took the time to enter and share their images. The entries captured the beauty and wonder of the natural world, highlighting how science can be found in the plants, landscapes, and living things around us every day. We also thank everyone who participated in the voting process and helped select this year’s winning photographs. We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 Science Week Photo Competition.
Congratulations to this year’s winners:
Best Science Photo: Ethan Falcke
Description: I thought it looked cool and so I tried to capture a little magic in the everyday. It’s an unedited photo as well.
Best Action Photo: Indi Travis
Description: My photograph depicts a decomposing tree stump set against a bright blue sky. The stump itself lacks colour, but the living organisms surrounding it bring vibrancy to the image, with the vivid greens of the moss it is adorned with, the striking blue of the sky, and the mint colour of the gum leaves. The focus is heavily on the decaying wood, while the background, featuring tall gum trees and close to zero clouds, is blurred to allow the viewer to concentrate on the stump, which also illustrates a solid sheet of colour lacking tonal properties. This technique emphasises the details of the cracks, moss, and broken edges used as a representation of life.
The image serves a scientific purpose, illustrating the impact of decomposition on ecosystem cycles. It highlights the lifelessness of the dead stump while drawing attention away from the otherwise somewhat lively backdrop in terms of colour.
People’s Choice Award: Sophie Walter
Description: Penny and PPT, The American and English budgerigars
Ethan, Indi and Sophie will receive a canteen voucher and all winning photos will be framed.
