Speed X interviews

Last week, two of our Year 11 VM classes had the exciting opportunity to attend the Speed X Careers Interview Session at Manningham Council. The event provided students with rapid, one-on-one interviews with 30 professionals from various industries, offering an engaging and practical way to explore different career paths.

Throughout the session, students honed essential work-related skills, including effective communication, active listening, and professionalism in a formal interview setting. They also learned how to tailor their questions to gain insights into career expectations, required qualifications, and industry-specific skills. The event helped them build confidence in navigating real-world job interviews, reinforcing the importance of preparation and adaptability.

By the end of the day, students walked away with a stronger understanding of how to present themselves to potential employers, ask meaningful questions, and reflect on the skills they need to succeed in the workplace. It was an invaluable experience that left them feeling more equipped and motivated for their future careers.

Interact Club

VM PDS students meet with David Rosenwax from Rotary Manningham City for our first Interact Club session where we will plan and rollout community projects. Our Interact Club has even been officially recognised in Chicago at the Rotary Headquarters so global community work here we come!!!

Cal from Manningham Youth Services joins VM PDS to learn about their work supporting young people in our local area.

Westerfolds park Clean Up

A VM Community Project this term was to pick up rubbish around Westerfolds Park. Students met Lauren from Parks Victoria who helped them with the project, she talked through the safety hazards and main rubbish areas of Westerfold Park. The wind was very strong so students had to be aware of potentially branches falling and wore high visibility vests to identify them as volunteers. Students were surprised about how much rubbished they found in a short time! They used team work, communication and planning skills to organise the activity and were able to ask Lauren questions about Parks Victoria. All in all a successful day out at the park!

VM Celebration Day

What a fantastic day our students had at the VM Celebration Day! They enjoyed an action-packed outing filled with laughter and excitement at Zone Bowling and the laser tag. It was heartwarming to see them embrace their childlike innocence, racing through the arcade and cheering each other on in friendly competition.

From perfecting their bowling strikes to getting in the zone in laser tag battles, the joy on their faces was truly infectious. These moments not only foster camaraderie among classmates but also remind us of the importance of celebrating achievements together. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible, creating lasting memories for our students!
