Principal’s Message

I begin this term’s reflection by expressing my absolute delight at being appointed to the ongoing Principal position at TC. TC is a unique and important school in the educational landscape. In my time as Acting Principal, in the second half of this year, I have been able to understand how TC has been built on some core values, which we will continue to protect and foster under my leadership. Having students use their voice in planning and experiencing their educational pathway, our one-person policy, and continuing to challenge the status quo both internally and at a system level will be what continues to create a culture where students not only build their knowledge and skills but are prepared to enter the wider world with unlimited potential.

At the beginning of next year, I will host a series of events inviting parents and carers to the school to meet me and continue to build strong relationships between the school, its students and their families. I will be doing the same with the students and I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Just this week we have been able to celebrate the successes of the graduating students with the release of the VCE results. Our pride in these results goes from the students who achieved outstanding results in VCE, includes the outstanding achievements in our VCE VM, and acknowledges the achievements of students who have worked hard and achieved their best. Our congratulations go to all our graduating students. We are looking forward to hearing how you are making a positive impact in your chosen pathways.

A special congratulations to Ray Zhong who is the 2025 TC Dux. Ray scored 98.90 and hopes to study Medicine or Dentistry next year. We wish him the best of luck with his future studies.

Daryl awards Ray the 2025 Dux certificate for his outstanding VCE results

The end of the year is also a time to reflect on what students have achieved, both in and out of the classroom. Reports will soon be available showing how students have achieved academically and in the development Victorian Curriculum Capabilities. Matching this to the out-of-class experiences is a celebration of the learning that has occurred this year at TC.

Throughout the year there have been many extra-curricular achievements that have shown the capacity of TC students to achieve at the highest levels, which you will read about in the coming pages. To all the students who have represented the school in musicals, sports, events, competitions, camps and volunteering activities I would like to thank you for your willingness to be involved and to be your best.

I would like to thank everyone in the community who have welcomed me warmly to the school. I am excited to be part of the school community and look forward to 2026. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

Student Achievements

Congratulations to our VCE students

Congratulations to our 2025 VCE students 🎉📊. We’re incredibly proud to share the outstanding ATAR achievements from our 2025 students, including our Dux, Ray Zhong, and acknowledge every student who set goals, pushed themselves, and worked with determination to reach their personal best 💪✨

Ray says his determination to succeed comes from a deep love of science and maths and the drive to push himself as far as he can. “I want to challenge myself in every way I can… I really want to do medicine or dentistry. It’s also for the teachers because they helped me so much.” 🔬

We celebrate all of our VCE/Grad students — not only those who have received their ATARs, but also our VCE students without scored assessments, those studying a VCE subject early and our VCE VM students, because every pathway matters and every achievement counts. We are incredibly proud of each of you💛

The dedication, resilience and commitment you’ve shown throughout your learning journey have set you up for success in whatever is next for you 🚀✨.

Rishi Ahmed - Winner of the National Schools Instrumental Music Challenge

Thanks to TC Music, I’ve had the chance to perform solo at various places over the past year. Last year, my teachers encouraged me to apply for Jazz in the Park 2024 and after hours of recording demos, I got my first solo gig.

More recently, I applied for Oz Schools Instrumental Competition, where after submitting a last-minute entry, got to perform at Collarts in the heat and placed second!  That result earned me a spot in the finals on the 29th-30th of November, where I won!

I’m really grateful to the TC Music program for giving me these opportunities to perform, connect with other musicians and have plenty of fun. A lack of musical experience will never hold you back in classes like Music Performance and Stage & Beyond. You will only keep getting better the more you do it, with the help of the friends you have or make and the fantastic teachers. TC Music is an absurdly fun experience in which you are encouraged to go crazy with friends and experiment when playing, making and enjoying music.
