VCE VM
CareNet
Our amazing VM students have been cooking up a storm! As part of their Rotary Interact Club community project, they prepared over 90 meals in just 4 hours for CareNet.
These meals support CareNet’s mission to boost food accessibility and help tackle food insecurity in our community. We’re so proud to see our students giving back and making a real difference.
Mystery Room Excursion
As part of the Personal Development Skills unit, the Year 12 VCE Vocational Major students recently participated in a city-based excursion designed to showcase and strengthen their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. The day began with an Urban Quest in Melbourne’s CBD, where students worked in teams to complete a series of timed challenges across specific locations. In the afternoon, they visited The Mystery Rooms in Fitzroy, taking part in a professionally designed escape room experience that further developed their critical thinking and group coordination. This excursion offered students a valuable opportunity to apply skills learned in class and served as inspiration for their major project task for Unit 3, designing and building their own escape room.
Escape Room
On Thursday the 19th of June, our amazing Unit 3 VM students created an immersive problem solving experience for the students and staff of Templestowe College. As part of their learning in the Personal Development Skills the students needed to demonstrate their capacity to work in teams, problem solve, take on leadership roles and relate to other human beings.
And there is nothing that you need to demonstrate all of these skills in more than an escape room. So we decided to build one.
After a lot of great ideas we settled on the Pirate theme as appropriate for our escape room. Students worked in small teams to develop puzzles for the room, organise the event and catering and even music.
Visitors to the room loved the challenging interactive puzzles and the opportunity to test their wits against the dastardly traps and tricks the VM students had put in place for them. Highlights included walking the plank blindfolded, digging for treasure, solving riddles and killing the pirate king.
Congratulations to the wellbeing team, (led by escape room expert Rocky) who set the record time for getting through the room.

As we wrap up another term, we’re reminded of the energy, creativity, and resilience that fills our school community. Whether in the classroom, on the stage, or out on the field, our students continue to grow, connect, and inspire. We look forward to what’s ahead and thank everyone for being part of the journey.
