Cafe/Baking Excursion to Queen Victoria Market

On Thursday the 5th of June, our Café Baking and Food Technology students took a trip to the iconic Queen Victoria Market, and what a day it was! We got guided around by market guides that taught us about the market’s long history. The market buzzed with colour, smells, and sounds. Students explored fresh produce stalls, chatted with friendly vendors, and even tried their hand at bargaining (with mixed results!). The absolute highlight was getting a gelati from one of the vendors. It was a great day that everybody seemed to enjoy

EPC Collab

Our Design Technology students used their creativity and 3D printing skills to support Eastern Palliative Care (EPC) by designing and printing over 400 custom badges for their incredible volunteers!

This hands-on project gave our students real-world experience with advanced 3D printing tech, while also fostering a deep sense of community connection and social responsibility.

A huge thank you to Penelope from EPC for collaborating with us, we hope the volunteers wear their new badges with pride!

And we’re not stopping there… Next up, our students will be laser-cutting trophies for a charity fun run!

Camberwell Robotics

TC Robotics kicked off the term with an exciting scrimmage at Camberwell Grammar! Our four rookie teams stepped into their very first competition, facing off against 15 experienced Camberwell teams.

The day was full of learning, teamwork, and plenty of fun, and to top it off, two of our TC teams formed an alliance and took out first place!

Incredible effort from all involved, we can’t wait to see what’s next for TC Robotics!

Please note some photos have been edited to remove non-TC students.

TC Robotics Scrimmage

Templestowe College proudly hosted the first VEX Robotics competition of the season, welcoming schools from across the region for an exciting day of innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving. The atmosphere was electric as students competed against each other on the field, showcasing their design thinking and coding skills in the senior division challenge. Adding to the occasion, we were thrilled to welcome back some of our incredible alumni, Mal Heliotis, Ben Goldfarb, Jack Greatorex, Thomas Radford, and Lestie Chizhevskaya, who returned to volunteer as referees and give back to the program that helped launch their STEM journeys.

International Robotics Competition

International students Danu and Dama recently travelled to Japan to compete in the VEX VRC Robotics Competition – Japan Cup!

Danu reflected on the experience:

"Our trip to Japan on the 20th of March 2025 for the robotics tournament and also for my first time ever to Japan was an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind experience. We had the incredible opportunity to meet amazing people from all over Asia, teams from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and many more. We talked to the Japanese teams and Taiwanese teams and ended up being friends with them. We shared our ideas and supported each other like old friends. In the end, we ended up picking the Taiwanese team for our alliance. Our hard work paid off. We finished in 3rd place, which was an incredible achievement and experience which made the whole journey even more special."

A huge congratulations to Danu and Dama on this outstanding international achievement,  what an incredible opportunity to showcase TC's talent on the world stage!

Timber Milling Incursion

When a tree on school grounds was deemed unsafe and had to be removed, our Technologies Department saw an opportunity, not just to clear it, but to learn from it.

Students got hands-on experience in timber milling, witnessing how raw logs are transformed into usable slabs and boards. They explored different methods of timber conversion and gained valuable insight into the craftsmanship behind the materials we often take for granted.

A fantastic blend of sustainability, curiosity, and practical learning in action!
