Principal Message

Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic Term 1! It’s clear from reading through this newsletter that our school community has been buzzing with activity. The range of opportunities on offer has been outstanding — with something for everyone, from exciting new events to long-standing traditions that continue to bring us together.

One of the highlights of the term was the Pool Party, which once again provided a great opportunity for students and staff to connect and build relationships in a fun and relaxed setting. We’re already looking ahead to Term 2’s Athletics Carnival, and we’re hoping to see just as many students getting involved.

Next term will also see the commencement of the recruitment process for the next TC Principal. This process is led by the Department of Education in collaboration with the TC College Council, and follows Ministerial Order 1006. It is a rigorous and thoughtful process designed to ensure TC continues to thrive under strong, visionary leadership. With a passionate staff, supportive families, and a clear sense of purpose, it’s an exciting time for our community as we look to the future.

Thank you once again for all the energy, commitment and care you have brought to TC this term. Wishing you a safe and restful break — we look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another great term in Term 2.

Warm regards,
Peter Ellis
Principal

A Family Affair
William Genat | Mockumentary/Crime | 10 min
This mockumentary chronicles Melbourne’s most notorious crime family when thrust into hiding following a chaotic garden party. Inspired by the works of Martin Scorsese and mockumentary conventions, A Family Affair satirically explores the complexities of family and the absurdity of the criminal underworld.

Student Leaders Embrace Woiwurrung Language and Wurundjeri Culture

Our student leaders recently took part in a powerful and meaningful workshop focused on deepening their connection to the land we live and learn on. The session was led by Wurundjeri artist and cultural educator Mandy Nicholson, who guided students through an introduction to the Woiwurrung language and shared her deep knowledge of Wurundjeri culture.

The aim of the workshop was to support our leaders in creating more personalised and respectful Acknowledgments of Country, tailored to the local Wurundjeri land. By learning Woiwurrung phrases and gaining a deeper appreciation of cultural practices, students are now better equipped to honour Country in a way that reflects our shared commitment to reconciliation and respect.

Importantly, this experience also empowers our student leaders to carry this awareness into their various roles across the school. Whether speaking at assemblies, leading events, or guiding peers, they will be able to share and promote knowledge of Wurundjeri culture within our community.

It was an enriching opportunity that reflects our ongoing journey toward cultural understanding and inclusion.
