Almost the Archies
A new community event, “Almost the Archies” ran across two lunchtimes in Week 6. The ARTS Hub was buzzing with community artists taking an opportunity to draw a portrait of TC staff from across the college and gain points for their Community.
This activity allowed students to ‘get to know’ staff outside of their usual setting, and they were encouraged to ask questions to inform their portrait. To capture the staff member's personality, they could choose colours, symbols and imagery that showcases the sitter’s personality and interests.
Students were encouraged to give it a go, and many said they hadn’t drawn a portrait with a live model. There were many variations of portrait styles: colourful and expressive, pencil and charcoal drawings, stylised, abstracted and personal interpretations of the sitters. Thank you to all who participated and a big thank you to the organising team, especially Arts Captains Hannah and Emma.

Prize winners
The Almost the Archies had SO many stunning submissions, it was difficult to choose prize-winners. However the organising team has chosen work by three students, each receiving a prize for their efforts.
🎨 Cordy P – for expressive pastel portraits of Brett, Tracey and Jemma.
✏️ Hugo S – for the detailed pencil sketch of Sean.
🌈 Helena H – for the vibrant and colourful response to Tracey and Jemma.
👏 Thank you to everyone who participated!
