Alpine Camp
⛺For Alpine Camp we spent two nights camping in northern Victoria. The first day we drove up to Sheepyard Flat, a site in the Howqua Hills on the Howqua River. We set up our tents and did some soil, air and water testing for the area💧🌬️. That night we had a cookout BBQ over the campfire and had free time to play ‘Capture the Flag’ before bed.
🏔️The next day we packed up camp in the morning and drove up near the top of Mount Stirling and then hiked the rest of the way to Craig’s Hut. Craig’s Hut was originally built as a set for the movie "The Man From Snowy River"🎬. We set up our tents again in the bush near the hut and had time to explore the hut and had a lesson on the Indigenous people's lifestyle in the alpine reigon before colonisation. We cooked dinner on Trangia stoves and then watched the sunset from the top of the mountain🌅. The next morning, we packed up again and hiked back down to the bus before driving home.

Pedal Powered Cinema
🚲🎬Students from TC’s Environmental Action Group attended the Pedal Powered Cinema event at Melbourne Girls' College, celebrating renewable energy and how simple actions like cycling can generate electricity.
Our students ran a stall showcasing TC’s sustainability initiatives, including DT’s Precious Plastics recycling project, our animal studies program and Bee Club… 🐝the honey tasting station was a crowd favourite!
They also explored other stalls (including pedal-powered smoothie bikes!) and helped generate the electricity needed to power the movie as the sun went down🎬⚡
A fun and inspiring evening, and a great opportunity for our students to represent TC.
