Entry Camp 2026
Our experiences, whether they are perceived as good or bad, are the things that help us the most; but those experiences only occur if you lead yourself to do it 💭. That’s exactly what Templestowe College’s (TC) Entry camp had this year! Good and challenging experiences leading to personal growth for all students 🌱
This year, TC’s Entry students had the occasion to go to Camp Howqua for a 3-day camp 🚌🌄 that served them with the chance to further develop their skills of management, teamwork, social responsibility, and improve their physical and mental health 💪🧠
We took part in a wide range of activities, including high ropes 🌲, horse riding 🐎, archery 🏹, a team-based all-in-one survival course, and even the steep dual waterslide 💦, with encouraging staff supporting us every step of the way. These activities, run by Camp Howqua and TC staff, provided an excellent platform for the Entries to explore passions beyond the classroom 🎯. They not only offered plenty of fun, but also supported students’ self-development by building a stronger sense of independence, resilience, and social skills 🤝
To wrap up, TC’s Entry Camp is a great way to begin our first year of high school 🎓 and provides an exceptional opportunity for growth. Whether it’s building physical strength or developing confidence, Entry Camp has supported all Entries this year and will continue to do so in the future ✨ Imagine discovering a better version of yourself after a school camp experience, even if you thought you were already your best! 💫

Tech Power Up Program
While half of the Entry cohort was off-site for their Howqua Camp experience, the other half participated in a two-day Tech Power Up Program 💻. In this program students learnt about safe and respectful online conduct as well as how to navigate and use some of the regular apps required for schooling such as Compass, Teams, OneNote, File Explorer and Word 📂. Successful students were able to complete all challenges to unlock and edit their own certificate of completion 🎓.
Thanks to all the staff who helped to make this program a success, especially the teachers who led the masterclass sessions on 3D printing 🖨️, sticker design ✨, Pixel Art 🎨, Canva, MS Word Wizards ✍️ and Touch Typing Pro ⌨️.
Here are some comments from the students:
What I learnt in I.T. Camp was controls like Crtl and Windows Key. What I enjoyed was just the I.T. Camp in general, and what could make the camp better, there could be a small brain-break. But I have enjoyed I.T Camp a lot. – Sam
I learned different ways to use my laptop. I enjoyed being able to use my laptop and how my teacher made it easier and how it can improve my learning and mindset with my laptop. I will work on staying on task and how I can use my laptop to submit all my learning tasks and the way I can use my computer. Thank you for showing me how to use my laptop in a better and more productive way. - Lucienne
In the I.T. camp, I learnt how to navigate folders, change colours of existing ones, and create more, as well as naming them. I also learnt how to use Tinkercad properly, and some of the things you do in Design Technology as an elective. One of the things I enjoyed was using Tinkercad, and how a 3D printer works. It was enjoyable because we got to actually print those things, which made it super exciting. One of the things I need to work on is making sure I know how to save and upload things properly, as I am still not very good at it yet. A way I feel would make the program better is if we got another chance to do our masterclasses, as for me it was the highlight of the program. - Amelia
