Victorian Sailing School

VM students had the opportunity to learn a new skill last week! To encourage students to develop their event planning skills while also practising verbal and non-verbal communication and active listening skills in an unfamiliar environment the group went sailing ⛵⛵⛵. Learning to sail saw students apply what they are learning in the classroom in a practical environment. 💦

Exploring the Future at the Grand Prix: VCE Students Dive into Real-World Learning

Our VCE VM Unit 1/2 Work Related Skills and Unit 3/4 Maths students recently had the exciting opportunity to attend the Australian Grand Prix, where learning extended well beyond the classroom. This unique excursion offered students a firsthand look into how large-scale events operate and the many career pathways that drive them.

Throughout the day, students explored a variety of key areas. They investigated the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) measures in place to protect drivers, pit crews, event staff, and spectators. This provided valuable insight into the critical role safety plays in high-pressure environments.

In addition, students engaged with exhibits and professionals demonstrating how emerging technologies are transforming the workplace and shaping future careers. From engineering innovations to data analysis and beyond, the Grand Prix provided a dynamic backdrop to see these advancements in action.

The excursion also included opportunities to discuss different career paths, including the training and qualifications required across a range of industries linked to the event—from motorsport and hospitality to logistics and media.

It was a thrilling and informative day, giving students the chance to connect their studies with real-world experiences and gain inspiration for their own future pathways.
