Pool Party

The 2025 pool party took place on May 3rd and was a fantastic day for everyone who attended. The weather was perfect, bright and sunny! Participants enjoyed a variety of entertaining activities throughout the day, from fun games to leisurely swimming. One of the highlights was the student-run stalls that dotted the pool area. Some stalls were run by the VM program, offering sausages and snow cones to hungry contestants. In addition to the tasty food, other stalls provided bracelet making and face painting, making it a great chance for students to socialise and connect with one another.

Everyone was buzzing with excitement and anticipation, wondering which community would earn the most points to win the cup. Would it be Blue, Red, Green, or Gold?

The announcement of the winning community at the end of the day had everyone hooting with pride. It was Gold! Congratulations Gold Community!

Gapu Nupan Show

Students had the opportunity to attend Gapu Nupan at the Arts Centre. The First-Nations Story-Telling Masterpiece offered students an immersive experience in how stories can be told through dance, song, live music, and visuals. Through the cross-cultural performance, students saw themes of cultural empowerment, multimedia storytelling, and the blending of traditional and contemporary art. It was a great experience and a great day out. 🎶✨🎭🎬

BrainSTEM Callenge

🧠🔬 TC students attended the BrainSTEM Challenge last week, a Shark Tank-style 💡 design thinking challenge with students from other schools 🌍✨ They were tasked with innovating a solution to a problem based on the Global Goals for Sustainable Development and pitched their ideas to an expert panel 🎤👨‍⚖️👩‍⚖️.

🏆🎉 There were awesome LEGO prizes for the winners! 🏗️🔧🚀

Rotary Manningham Festival

On Sunday, March 24th, TC staff and students proudly supported the Manningham Family Festival at Finns — a vibrant community event organised by Rotary Manningham City.

Our students and staff volunteered their time to help Rotary with the event setup, showing great teamwork and community spirit. Their efforts helped ensure a smooth start to the day and contributed to the festival’s ongoing success.

The Manningham Family Festival, which has been running for over 20 years, offers something for everyone — pony rides, a merry-go-round, live performances, market stalls, and delicious food from local vendors. It’s a much-loved event that brings people of all ages together and raises funds to support local initiatives.

It was a fantastic opportunity for TC to connect with the wider Manningham community while supporting a meaningful and family-friendly event.

Entry

entry camp

The entry cohort enjoyed 3 days away at Camp Howqua aimed to build bonds and participate in a range of recreational activities including the flying fox, high ropes, survivor obstacle course, archery, water slide and horse riding. Students got to step out of their comfort zone to try new things and make new friends in the process. Here are their thoughts!

My favourite memory of Entry Camp:

  • Meeting new people - Caterina

  • Playing murder in the dark - Sophie

  • The best things that happened in entry camp were definitely the Flying fox, horse riding and the water slide - Nina

  • Laying on concrete during the disco and looking at the starry night sky - Harper

  • When one of my friends faced his fear of heights and went on the high ropes and flying fox multiple times and had lots of fun - Lachlan

I laughed the hardest when:

  • We were eating at breakfast, lunch or dinner telling jokes to my friends at the table - Iza

  • I wasn't laughing but there was chaos on the table while everyone was doing Uno - Ethan

  • I was at the Disco because It was so fun and my friends and I did really funny things - Cassidy

  • My friend pushed me down the water slide - Alisha

A big shout out to:

  • My friends and Tim and Alice and Jordan and Maguerite for being so fun - Mila

  • The cook - Jasper

  • Rachel Apps for going down the waterslide - Walter

  • All the staff in the camp for helping us along the way - Tyler

  • Ellie for being the best DJ ever, all my friends, and the staff for organising it all, and for making camp so fun! - Tash

Entry Technology Camp

Senior students Nicholas and Dante presenting the digital music workshop.

While half our Entries were on camp we held an IT skills camp for students back at school. This was a new initiative to help students become more confident with all of the different platforms they use on a daily basis at TC. We also learnt about how to stay safe and be kind and considerate online and completed a module that taught us how to find personal information on social media (and importantly what should not be shared!).

Students also had the chance to participate in a range of fun and useful workshops such as Bandlab (how to edit music), laser cutting (Design Technology taster), Canva and touch typing. Overall students found this program really useful.

And we finished the program with a massive off-screen game of capture the flag!

bike ed Pedal Power

Over the past two weeks, our Entry students have been gearing up—literally and figuratively—as part of our annual Bike Education program held during PE. Designed to build both skill and confidence, the program has given students a fun and active way to strengthen their independence and road safety awareness.

The program kicked off with a series of engaging drills on the astroturf. Here, students developed essential riding skills like balance, braking, turning, and scanning the environment, all within a safe and familiar space.

As confidence soared, so did the sense of adventure. The final days of the program saw students take their learning beyond the school gates, with supervised rides along the beautiful Ruffey Creek Trail. For many, this was the highlight—a chance to apply their new skills in a real-world setting while enjoying the fresh air and natural surrounds.

This program isn’t just about learning to ride—it’s about fostering independence, resilience, and a lifelong love of physical activity. We’re proud of the determination and enthusiasm our students have shown and grateful to the staff who made it all possible.

Congratulations to our Entry cohort for their terrific efforts—keep pedalling forward!

Dodgeball

Every year, the community dodgeball competition spikes interest for many of TC's students, offering a fun, fast-paced game of tactics and teamwork. This year, our four communities battled it out for the Dodgeball 2025 trophy, a shiny reward encouraging collaboration and contribution.

The SportsCenter was buzzing with anticipation and eagerness to win the trophy for their community. From the sidelines, students applauded and cheered for their friends, creating a captivating and enthralling environment, and drawing others in. After putting in their all, the community that came away with the trophy was Red Community!

Basketball

On Tuesday, March 6, the annual basketball tournament took place at lunch on the astroturf. Energetic and eager students filled the area as leaders announced the competition, featuring different communities vying against one another. Small teams played valiantly, striving to score the most hoops and secure the cup for their community. It was a fantastic event, and all participants should feel proud. The final scores were as follows:

Red =  1st
Green  = 2nd
Gold =  3rd
Blue = 4th

Soccer

The much-anticipated community soccer showdown unfolded at lunchtime in week eight. Students flocked to the astroturf, their cheers filling the air as the organizers started the event, showcasing teams from each community ready to battle for glory. Each squad brought their talents, showcasing impressive skills and a fierce determination to net the most goals and claim the trophy for their community. The atmosphere was electric, brimming with friendship and sportsmanship. As the last game came to an end, everyone looked to each other to see which community had won........It was Blue Community!
