Principal's message
Itโs been a fantastic start to Term 2, with a wide range of engaging and exciting learning experiences already underway across the college. Over the last two weeks we have seen Community Assemblies and competitions, camps and excursions, Interschool Sport, basketball finals, a self-defence course and more, highlighting the many opportunities available for students to get involved, challenge themselves, and connect with others.

E-bikes at school
Riding bikes to school is a fantastic way to stay active, and TC highly encourages this mode of travel to and from school. We know that e-bikes can be an efficient and enjoyable way to travel, however we need to ensure that students are doing this in a manner that is safe for themselves and the community.
We are aware that some e-bikes in our community are not compliant with Victorian laws and are causing safety concerns. Please see below information from the Department of Transport around what is required for an e-bike to be legal to ride in public. Any bike that is not compliant with these guidelines must not be brought on site.
Please direct any questions around this to an Assistant Principal. Thank you for your ongoing support in this.

TC News - How to avoid burn out
The start of a new term marks the beginning of never-ending homework. I find that school is exhausting, but when paired with home study, itโs even more tiring. Especially when it feels as if I am just able to finish everything every week, only to still feel behind.
With this new term, I encourage students and parents to reflect on how last term was for you. Were you able to finish all your tasks while also taking a break, or did it feel like you were drowning?
Unfortunately, not doing an assignment isn't the best option; it can lead to chronic procrastination. This, in turn, can cause continuous stress and eventually burnout, which is a nightmare right before a SAC or exam.
So how do you prevent burnout? Here are some of the recommended strategies for prevention:
โฐ Time management - plan ahead, make to do lists and prioritise tasks, minimise distractions, start with the most important or hardest tasks first
๐ง Take breaks
๐งฉ Break down complex tasks
๐ฏ Set attainable goals
๐ค Use support networks (family, friends, school staff, external support)
๐ง Practice self-care
๐ซ Avoid perfectionism
All these strategies are easier said than done; however, if you start by implementing just one, it can launch a whole new study routine which prioritises your work but also yourself.
Self-care, taking breaks and avoiding perfectionism are probably the most important strategies listed to me. Itโs okay to take a break. Also, not every task has to be perfect; do your best, which looks unique to you. VCE can be super difficult in avoiding comparing yourself to those around you but remember to focus on your work and nobody else's. But most importantly, remember itโs going to be okay, it just might take some mental and physical effort to get there. Good luck, everyone!
