Next Week @ TC

Principal's message
This week has been another busy week at TC, with many excursions and experiences for the students. I got to experience my first TC Pool Party and was told (quite late in the piece) of the tradition of the principal taking part in an ice bucket challenge. I am sure there will be photos on our social media pages. It was an amazing community day where students enjoyed being together.
I had the opportunity this week to attend the Manningham/Monash Network meeting with Liam O’Neill. The focus was on the implementation of the VTLM2.0, the new teaching and learning model from the Department of Education. Our work as school leaders is to take this research-based model and contextualise it for implementation at TC. This work will align with the School Review outcomes.
SCHOOL REVIEW
The School Review is a process each DET school undertakes every four years. The review allows us to celebrate our achievements and review our progress against our strategic goals. The School Review starts on Tuesday 10 March and continues on Thursday 12th and Tuesday 17th. The process includes input from students, staff, and parents and carers.
We are running an online School Review session for parents and carers next Thursday at 8.30am. It is an opportunity for parents and carers to provide feedback and insights on their experience at TC. If you would like to attend please register here.
The outcome of the review is the development of the new school Strategic Plan (2026-2029) and Annual Implementation Plan for 2026. These will be shared with the school community once the review is finalised and the plans written and approved.
I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend.

Missed your school photo? Have it taken Thursday 24 March

Pool Party
On Tuesday TC students attended the Pool Party at Aquarena 🏊♂️. Highlights of the day included the Grad parade, face painting, live music, and by far the most exciting event: our Principal Daryl having a bucket of ice poured on his head 🪣❄️.
Throughout the entire day community and competitive spirts were high, with many students representing their community by either wearing community colours or competing in swimming events.
At the end of the day Gold Community placed first overall in competition and community spirt 🥇, and Gold Community leaders Samara and Indi-Rae were presented with the carnival trophy 🏆.
Other competitions included the Grad Parade, where this year’s Grads dressed up in all kinds of wonderful and whimsical costumes.
If you would like to get involved in more community events, be sure to keep an eye on Teams for announcements 👀.

TC News: International Women's Day
This Sunday 8 March marks International Women’s Day🌏, an internationally recognised acknowledgement of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It originates from the worldwide female suffrage campaign for women’s rights and overall equality.
The theme for IWD in Australia this year is ⚖️#BalanceTheScales, highlighting the essential call to action for a fair, inclusive justice system as well as addressing the nonstop barriers to equality that are present in Australian society. IWD also acts as a day of reflection on the unity and advocacy promoted in countries to counteract issues such as
gender-based violence and gender inequality.
UN Women Australia CEO Simone Clarke said: “Balance the Scales is a promise for every woman and girl to be safe, heard, and free to shape her own future. In 2026, unjust laws, policies, and ingrained barriers still stand in the way of fair and inclusive communities. This International Women’s Day, we are calling on Australians to join a movement for real action – to transform our justice systems, amplify marginalised voices, and ensure equality is not the exception, but the rule.”
📚To make proper progress toward equality and equity we must start with education; simply speaking about topics such as what feminism and healthy masculinity look like can greatly improve a person’s understanding and awareness. In Units 1 and 2 English we are reading the novel Shadow Boxing by Tony Birch, where we look at challenging themes about relationships and gender. For parents and carers, engaging in this text and its topics with your child is a great way to start these conversations in your household.
💜Therefore, let's take International Women’s Day as an opportunity to check in on the women in our lives, and to reflect on how we can support and promote gender-equality. If you’d like to learn more follow this link to the UN Women Australia.
