CUP EVE LONG WEEKEND – Monday 02 November

Many families take the opportunity over the cup weekend to have a 4-day weekend to spend time together as a family and enjoy a short break. This has meant that running a normal school program is very difficult on the Monday of Melbourne Cup weekend.

On Monday 2 November TC will run an alternate program at all levels, joining/merging classes for those students who need to attend. This will ensure students are supervised by teachers to continue with independent study. Normal classes will not run and thus attendance data will not be impacted. No new material will be covered in the alternate program.

Coffee with the principal

The Coffee with the Principal sessions return this term and I would love the opportunity to continue to meet parents and talk about the school and its students.

I would like to keep these sessions small so that everyone has the opportunity to talk with me, and each other, and will therefore limit each session to 10 people.

Please make sure that you book a place if interested using the link below:

Coffee with the Principal - Online

I look forward to seeing you there.

I’m looking forward to meeting more of our students, sharing ideas and getting to know each other better. BYO lunch and join me for a chat.

Bookings need to be made to book your place via this link: Student Lunch with the Principal

I look forward to seeing you there.

Have a great week.

TC Animals Program is seeking donations

The Animals Program is seeking donations of household recycling!

Due to the current threat of avian influenza, we are unable to safely provide our birds with fresh browse and tree cuttings. Browse plays an important role in providing our birds with mental stimulation and enrichment. In the place of fresh browse, we are providing our birds with DIY home-made toys, using household materials such as paper towel rolls, toilet rolls, tissue boxes, egg cartons and small boxes. Our rabbits, rats and guinea pigs also thoroughly enjoy these types of toys. Our supplies are rapidly declining and we are hoping for your help!

Over the next few weeks, if you would kindly set aside toilet paper rolls, egg cartons, paper towel rolls, tissue boxes and other small cardboard items, our animals would be greatly appreciative.

A collection box will be located at the Front Office from next week, to collect any donations you might be willing to share.

Relationships and Sexuality Education at TC for Entry Students in 2026

Dear Parents and carers of Entry Students,

We are looking forward to beginning the Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) program with Entry students in Weeks 5-8 of Term 4. We strive to make these classes engaging and create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

Classes will be taught during the Health and PE block, as part of PE Health class schedule.  This is developmental curriculum designed for young people in Entry/Year 7 stage of development. This year, the Entry level classes will predominantly be focused on revision of RSE content students should have received in Year 5/6 of primary school and begins to introduce Year 7/8 curriculum. This enables sequential learning of RSE mapped across their FLE years @TC.

Learning topics will include aspects of physical, social and emotional development, anatomy, sexual and reproductive health including hygiene, respect for others and oneself, consent, diversity and inclusion, personal rights and responsibilities, healthy and respectful relationships, including online relationships. All students will learn about help-seeking in person and online, various resources and accessing health services.

Bodily autonomy, consent, respectful relationships and protective behaviours are reoccurring themes  throughout lessons and students are encouraged to have conversations with askable adults including parents and carers in their home environments and at school. The RSE classes will be delivered by TC staff experienced in this teaching area, and we look forward to working with the Entry students to strengthen their skills and understanding of RSE across the developmental stages.

Entry Classes Overview

Week 1: Puberty & growing up: Revision Physical and Emotional change, including  sexual and reproductive anatomy, menstruation: protective behaviours and consent

Week 2: Revision reproduction, pregnancy including Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART formerly IVF) and birth

Week 3: Respectful Relationships: Stereotypes, diversity, friendships and crushes: boundaries and consent

Week 4: Socialising online: including sexual content online, gaming, AI and help-seeking

At TC we take a whole school approach and believe that relationships and sexuality education is a shared responsibility. Research shows your child’s relationships and sexuality education is most effective when you are also actively involved. We encourage parents/carers to follow up with conversations with your child according to your own values and beliefs. The Victorian Department of Education has great resources to assist parents with these discussions - https://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/teachers/teachingresources/discipline/physed/Pages/forparents.aspx

https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents : to support discussions around online content, potential risks and harm minimisation of technology facilitated abuse, and how to support your young person, and how to seek help if this occurs. A series of webinars for parents and carers covers many topics, in addition to excellent website resources.

Inclusive Education: Sexuality Education Counselling and Consultancy Agency is a service provider with numerous resources and information for people of all ages and abilities. https://www.secca.org.au/resources/

We encourage and strongly recommend that all students attend these important life-skills classes. However, if you would prefer your child not to attend, please email your child’s Community Executive Team to opt out by 5pm Friday 30st October, 2026. Students who are not participating will go to another supervised space during these sessions.

TC Market – Stallholders and Volunteers Wanted!

The TC Market is back on 17 November, from 4–6pm, and it's time to get involved!

The market is a fantastic opportunity to bring our school community together for an afternoon of live music, food and drinks, shopping and entertainment. With stalls offering everything from arts and crafts to vintage, plants and more, there's always plenty to see and enjoy.

Any TC student or parent/carer is welcome to run a stall, whether you're selling handmade creations, pre-loved items or something else entirely. We do have a sustainability focus and ask stallholders to consider the amount of plastic they use both in their product and as packaging.

We're also looking for volunteers to help make the event a success.

The TC Market is always a great atmosphere and a wonderful way to connect with others, get involved in school life and support the TC community.

Interested in holding a stall or volunteering? Please complete the form below to register your interest.

Permaculture Garden Working Bee - Sunday 25 October

Please save the date and join us for our upcoming Permaculture Garden Working Bee!

Our garden is a valuable part of the TC community, providing a space for students to connect with nature, learn about sustainability and develop practical skills.

Contributions from students and families play an important role in keeping our garden healthy, productive and thriving. By lending a hand, you'll help maintain and improve this shared space, while enjoying some time outdoors, connecting with other members of the TC community and making a positive contribution to our school.

Every helping hand makes a difference, and we welcome contributions of any size. We hope to see you there!
