School rules

  • You are not allowed to leave the school grounds without permission.

  • Strictly NO SMOKING or VAPING.

  • Conform to the TC dress code.

  • Follow instructions the first time given by staff.

  • Be in class on time with correct equipment.

  • Listen to others, without interrupting.

  • Complete all required work and submit homework on time.

  • Keep hands, feet, objects and inappropriate comments to yourself.

  • Physical violence is not tolerated - you can be sent home

  • ​No mobile phone use during the school day

Consequences

If you breach the above conditions you will be reported to your Community Team and Belle Austriaco. You may receive a community service detention.

Welfare and discipline

The Templestowe College Student Code of Practice aims to:

  • Ensure that the College is a safe and pleasant environment for the development of positive social behavior and relationships.

  • Support students from all backgrounds in a non-discriminatory way to enable them to develop personally and to build self esteem.

  • Encourage students to achieve their full academic potential.

All students have the right to a safe, secure and harmonious College environment.

All students have the right to learn in an atmosphere of order, co-operation and mutual respect.

Students are empowered to assess and be responsible for their own behavior.

All students are encouraged to value and develop a sense of self-worth and individual goals.

A pleasant, clean and well-maintained physical environment encourages positive learning and responsible co-operative behavior.

The general college rules and expectations of behaviors apply when students are travelling to and from school, on public transport, College excursions, sports events, trips or camps.

Dispute Resolution Procedure

If you encounter a conflict or dispute either at home or at school, you should tell Belle Austriaco.  She will investigate the matter, talk to all the relevant parties and try and resolve the issues.  The final decision in relation to any dispute will rest with the Principal, Peter Ellis.

Reporting to Parents

Assessment and Reporting

TC has a system of continuous reporting via Compass. Your parents will be provided with login details for Compass and they can view your academic progress and attendance at any time.  Compass also shows a Work and Study Habits Index (WASHI) for each subject which is updated on a monthly basis. In addition , your parents may be contacted by email or phone to report on your progress.

Visa Conditions

The Department of Immigration issues visas for all international students in Australia. Student visas carry certain conditions:

  • You must be enrolled in a fulltime course.

  • Templestowe College expect you to attend school every day (if you are ill, you must let Belle Austriaco know.)

  • You must notify Templestowe College of your address in Australia within 7 days of arrival, and notify Templestowe College of any changes in your address within 7 days.

  • You cannot change schools in the first 6 months. If your course is less than 6 months you must study the full duration of the course before changing.

  • You must maintain your overseas student health cover (OSHC) at all times while studying in Australia.

  • If you have to extend your studies in Australia or you want to do some travelling before you   return to your home country, you need to apply for an extension to your visa or a new visa.

Course Attendance and Progress

The ISC and teachers work together closely and will inform the international office if they have concerns about the students.   The ISC regularly checks attendance and will send out notification if students are absent.  Course progress and attendance progress if part of your student visa condition.  Please find links to the Department of Education ISP Policy:
