Critical Incident
As per the National Code, a critical incident is a ‘traumatic event, or the threat of such (within or outside Australia), which causes extreme stress, fear or injury’ to an international student. Some potential events that might be considered a critical incident or might adversely impact international students are:
Missing students;
Severe verbal or psychological aggression;
Death, serious injury or any threat of these;
Natural disaster;
Issues such as domestic violence, physical, sexual or other abuse;
Severe anxiety, physical or psychological harm
Other non-life threatening events that impact international students
Missing student
School has an action plan in place when students are not contactable. Please inform the school immediately if you are unable to reach your student. The school requires students who are under the school welfare to have a phone and to ensure they respond in a prompt manner.
