To the TC Community,
The completion of RC2.0 is nearing! The building shell is going through its final stages of completion, and we have opened up the area outside of the building. The photo shows the new recreational basketball hoop being used as well as students taking advantage of the outside area.
We are currently working with interior designers on the inside of the building. Having seen the inside of the building we have made the decision to repurpose its use from that of the previous Resource Centre. The “Resource Centre” will continue to operate from S Wing, with our new space working in the format of the “TC Coworking hub”. There is going to be a lot more information on this to follow as we develop what the inside of the building will look like.
As you will be aware, here @ TC we want our buildings to feel as little like a school as possible, and in fact for our learning spaces to replicate the feel of the world outside of school. With open office spaces and Coworking spaces growing in use and popularity, we are looking to use the research, experience and knowledge out there to design our space to create the best possible working environment for our students.
We are looking forward to getting this project right first time. This means that this process may take some time, but will be worth it in the end. I am looking forward to updated people more over the next few weeks.

Student Free Day announcement
This is advanced notice that we will be holding a student free day on Monday 17th June 2019. This is one of the 4 days that every school has available to them to carry out whole school Professional Development. We have already had two days at the beginning of the Year in Term 1, and shall be taking our 4th day at the beginning of term 2.
Earn & Learn is on again
Woolworths has just launched Earn & Learn, and we're once again joining it. For those parents who aren't aware of the program, if you shop at Woolworths between 1st of May and the 25th of June you can earn stickers. Our school will be collecting these stickers which we'll be able to swap for new school equipment; things like art and craft supplies, sports gear, teaching aids, and more. There are thousands we can choose from!
So for any parents who shop at Woolworths, please collect those stickers and drop them in to our collection box, which is located at both The Pines Shopping Centre and Macedon Square, as well as directly to us at school.
Thanks for helping out!
2019 Ration Challenge
We have launched this years Ration Challenge campaign and have already got 4 students, 3 staff and 2 parents signed up to complete the challenge. The Ration Challenge is a fundraising initiative where you eat the same rations as a Syrian refugee living in a camp in Jordan during Refugee Week (16-23 June). Our TC team do the 5 day schools challenge (8am Monday to 5pm Friday), which has some added protein and fresh fruit and veggies essential for young people. But there is no sugar, coffee…or chocolate! As participants reach various fundraising targets they gain extra ingredients such as tea bags, spices and extra protein.
The funds raised will provide refugees with food, healthcare and education.
If you would like to get behind our school’s ration challenge team here is the sponsor link: https://school.rationchallenge.org.au/templestowe-college.
Or if you would like to directly sponsor our TC participants and help them reach their personal targets their sponsor links are listed below:
If you would like to participate grab a form from the RC or email MBAI@tc.vic.edu.au.
Last year we raised over $7000 (and raised the 8th highest of all schools in Australia)! Let’s see if we can do it again!

Term Dates for the Year
Please see the table below as a reminder for some of the key term dates for 2019:
Next Week in the Resilience Project
Next week on Tuesday all students will participate in a Resilience Project specific session during Connect time. Tuesday will be the day that the Resilience Project work is carried out in groups based upon a students age.
Our Entry students will be undertaking an introduction to Mindfulness as their topic.
Our FLE students will have the learning intention of beginning to develop the ability to see the same situation from a different perspective.
Our Grads will work in collaboration to identify potential challenges ahead and also will work in collaboration to identify things they are looking forward to. This will be carried out whilst looking at the emotions that students expect to feel whilst taking on these challenges. This will also be viewed through the lens of “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you”.
All students should be completing the short activity in their Resilience Project each day as we look to help students build their resilience, through the key areas of empathy, mindfulness and gratitude.
NAPLAN testing will shortly take place here @ TC.
Under Department of Education and Training (DET) guidelines, all students are required to participate in the NAPLAN tests, unless a prior exemption is submitted as detailed below. During the test week, students will sit the tests under strict test conditions. This is a great opportunity for students to gain experience at sitting tests if they are planning on heading down a VCE pathway where they wish to gain an ATAR.
Parents/Guardians may withdraw students from the testing program if there are cultural or philosophical objections to this form of testing. Please fill the attached TC request form to apply for a Student Withdrawal Form which will be generated from the NAPLAN Website. The Student Withdrawal Form will be emailed to you and must be signed and returned to the General Office or emailed to Donna Smith (DSM@tc.vic.edu.au). Please note that there is a tight turnaround on these forms being returned. Please click below for a letter and other information on NAPLAN
