To co-create high quality learning experiences within an inclusive and supportive community
— TC2018-2021 Our Vision

Next Week @ TC - 24th August 2018

To the TC Community,

As we have now passed the mid way point of the term, there is one major priority for the next 7 days, subject selection and course planning. As everyone should be aware, subject selections for 2019 are due this Friday at 8:50am. It is really important that all 2019 students complete this process before the deadline so that we can start our plans around how many classes of which subjects will run. All students should have been working with their SSDP mentors to make their course plans in order to be making good decisions around their 2019 subjects.

I would like to thank everyone for the recent Student Parent Teacher Interviews. These were two great evenings, with a great feel to the room with an excellent turn out. We hope that these evenings were useful for students and parents to either set goals for the rest of the year or to help make plans for 2019.

Sexuality & Respectful Relationships Seminar on 4/09 at the Manningham Function Centre

Please see attached flyer for an upcoming Sexuality and Respectful Relationships Seminar on Tuesday 4 September 2018. This event will be delivered in partnership with YMCA Manningham Youth Services as part of Manningham Council’s Parenting Seminar Series.

This seminar is a great opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the social issues faced by young people today in relation to sexuality and respectful relationships, and to improve skills in navigating the sensitive topic of sexuality with young people.

A keynote presentation with Dr Maria Pallotta-Chiarolli will be followed by a panel discussion with representatives from the iMatter Program and Family Planning Victoria.

This session is suitable for young people to attend with their parents.

Health Resources Wall - From one of our Students

"As part of an individual SSDP project, a wall of health resources has been created outside of the careers office- right near the front office. This wall is here for you. Whether you are staff, a student, a parent, or simply just a visitor. We created the wall as we want to ensure you are able to access all the information you want to. We want to ensure you experiencing good health and wellbeing, and hope the resources on this wall will help you to achieve that.

The informative flyers, fact sheets and brochures on this wall will be swapped out every month- and you can request specific things! If we don’t have it already, we will do our best to find it.”

TC Charitable Donations Request by a Student

I am organising a trivia night fundraiser at TC for The I CAN Network, and I need your help! "The I CAN Network is driving a rethink of Autism, from ‘I Can’t’ to ‘I CAN’. They mentor young people on the Autism Spectrum to live life with an ‘I CAN’ attitude." It was founded by Chris Varney, who is on the spectrum, and encourages a positive mindset in thinking about ASD.  In order to get the night up and running, I would greatly appreciate donations of auction and raffle items for the night, such as unique memorabilia, holiday getaways, and gift items. You and/or your business will be mentioned on the night and will be given a certificate of appreciation, and even better, you will be supporting a wonderful cause!!

We are organising a date very soon, so stay tuned! We cannot do this without your help and support.

Young Carers Program

Merri Health offers a great service for young people that engage in a carers roll. This can be any student that helps look after someone with a disability, mental illness, drug or alcohol dependency or is frail aged. It can be a parent, sibling, relative or friend.

Young carers can also apply for a 12 month scholarship via the Young Carer Bursary Program at: http://www.youngcarers.net.au/young-carer-bursary-program/

Mango Fundraiser

The Mango Fundraiser is back! See the flyer below for more information
